“This is probably the most difficult of all the goals an angler can achieve,” says Kevin VanDam after winning his fourth Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year title Aug. 8. “I can tell you the competition is much stronger today than it was just a few years ago. This is the Elite Series. This is the test of the best. I am real proud that I came out on top this year. I don’t believe in luck, but you do have to be fortunate out there.”

Kevin VanDam has been fishing professionally since 1990 and is one of the most decorated anglers in history. He won the B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year award during his first year on the pro circuit (1992), and again in 1996, 1999 and 2008.

In 2001, he won the FLW Angler of the Year title, and in 2004 and 2005 Kevin became the first Elite 50 champion. He also won the Bassmaster Classic championship in 2001 and 2005.
Kevin was honored as Outdoor Sportsman of the Year by ESPN (2002) and received his first ESPY trophy.
